CUSCO – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN TOUR
This tour begins very early in the morning to ensure we are among the first to reach the mountain, avoiding large crowds of tourists.
Between 3:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel. Then, we’ll travel by tourist transport for approximately 2 hours to the community of Cusipata, located at an altitude of 3,400 meters (11,155 ft), where we will enjoy breakfast.
After breakfast, we’ll continue driving for about 50 more minutes until we reach the starting point of the hike at Llacto (4,630 meters / 15,190 ft). From there, we will begin an uphill hike that takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, leading us to the Vinicunca Pass at an altitude of 5,029 meters (16,500 ft).
At the summit, you’ll have time to admire the stunning scenery and take in the breathtaking views. Due to the high altitude, cold temperatures, and wind, we will stay just long enough to enjoy the experience comfortably.
We will then descend via the same trail, taking approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to return to Llacto. From there, we’ll board our transport and return to the restaurant for lunch, and finally head back to Cusco, arriving at the main square between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., depending on the group’s pace and acclimatization to the altitude.

OPTIONAL: If conditions permit, after reaching Rainbow Mountain, you may choose to take an optional hike to the Red Valley viewpoint. This additional ascent takes approximately 50 minutes one way. The decision to do this hike can be made upon arrival at Rainbow Mountain.
